The first-response window: why enquiry speed decides the booking
Patients rarely message one practice. They message three and book with whoever responds first and most clearly.
This makes response time a competitive variable, not an operational detail. An enquiry arriving at 9pm on Saturday and answered on Monday morning has usually already converted elsewhere.
Automation solves the acknowledgement problem, not the conversation. An immediate, specific first response that confirms receipt and asks one qualifying question holds the enquiry until a human can take over.
The distinction matters: automate acknowledgement and scheduling, keep clinical and judgement conversations human. Patients tolerate the former and resent the latter.
